This history is not just a series of events; it reflects the legacy of its enterprising founder, Edward Silker, affectionately known as Eddy. In 1949, at the age of nine, Eddy moved to the Mille Lacs area with his family. He began honing his business skills by making and selling fishing sinkers to local resorts. By the time he was 15, Eddy aspired to own the largest fleet of fishing launches on Mille Lacs Lake. His goal received support from the locals, enabling him to embark on this endeavor with subsequent success and growth. This rich history makes Eddys Resort a unique and cherished destination.

Eddy started his fishing business on Mille Lacs Lake in 1960 and founded Eddys Resort. During the winter months, he designed and built new fishing launches for the Resort, each a unique masterpiece. These handcrafted launches, constructed on-site, are a testament to Eddy's dedication and craftsmanship. The numbers painted on their hulls, 6, 8, 9, and 10, denote the year each craft was built: 1966, 1968, 1969, and 1970, adding a distinctive touch to each launch.
